It was July 15, 1989 and Pink Floyd held one of their most famous and controversial concerts in Italy. Two years after the publication of A Momentary Lapse of Reasonthe group's first album without Roger Waters, the band of David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright returned to Italy.
For the occasion, a 24 meter floating stage was built in the lagoon and towed by a 90 by 30 meter barge in front of San Marco, corresponding to the Feast of the Redeemer.
The free event ended up attracting 200,000 people and endless controversy over the impact on the city. Pink Floyd have released the official video of that hour and a half concert. At this link the history of the event.
