Elisa public Open diaries on October 26, 2018, inaugurating its journey with Island Records / Universal Music Italia. Almost eight years after its release, the album continues to reap results: in July 2026 it conquered the 4th FIMI platinum discconfirming itself as one of the longest-running and most appreciated projects of the singer-songwriter's career.

Published after the celebrations for twenty years of career culminating with the concerts atVerona Arena, Open diaries represents a turning point in the artistic path of Elisa. It is the first album made for Universal Music Italy and arises from a period of deep personal reflection.

The artist described the project as an introspective journey, in which the melodies were born only after the lyrics, letting the words guide the construction of the songs.

“I have never stopped writing. It's my way of keeping in mind what I want to do and say. I also like to retrace what I've been and that's also why the title of the new album is Open diaries. It is an introspective journey in which the melodies were born after the lyrics. The tone is the most intimate one of protection and freedom, the characteristics of an internal dialogue. I liked the idea of ​​imagining my audience as an interlocutor.”

We met Elisa on the occasion of the album's release. During the meeting the artist talked about the path that led her to the creation of this album.

“Right after turning 40 I felt lost, but also true to my values. These new songs tell the story of my state of mind for the last year and a half.”

To present the album live, Elisa he chose to return to the theatres, favoring direct contact with the public and a more intimate dimension than in previous years.

The artist explained that choice like this:

“I chose to return to a simple, ancestral dimension. In the theater you perform without tricks. There you have to be yourself. I would like our desire to sing and play to be felt in the live shows. This is also why I will invite the audience to sing with me on stage. I would like the concerts to make us become better people.”
