The football World Cup being held between the United States, Mexico and Canada, in addition to rather unpredictable matches, is revealing a new way in which national teams are relating to their audiences. If the Viking Row – the act of sitting as if on a Viking ship, pretending to row in unison with each drum beat – has become the postcard of this World Cup, and of the surprising Norwegian team led by Haaland, no less is the new English celebration which, with every match won, has sung Wonderwall of Oasis together with their supporters.
From Jude Bellingham to Harry Kane – who quickly became a meme after giving a voiceless interview for excessively singing the Oasis song after the victory against Mexico in the round of 16 of the tournament – Wonderwall is marking the positive path of the English national team so far. And, obviously, the Gallagher brothers, who are great supporters of football, could not fail to notice and comment on what is happening.
Oh I'll show Harry how it's done

«Wonderwall it belongs to the people and now it has become a magical moment between the people and the footballers”, commented Noel Gallagher, who is the author of the song. Liam, however, as usual, spoke through his profile Go England”, the first mention of the World Cup after the English comeback against the Democratic Republic of Congo, before continuing: “The nation needs positive vibrations until the O (Oasis, ed.) return. Life should be beautiful, not shit.” To which he added: «Come on England, come on Wonderwall».
Before the match against Mexico, however, Liam had also let himself go in his predictions: “3 to 0”, the comment in response to a fan. It will end 3 to 2, in a match until the last breath or, to underline Harry Kane's singing commitment at the end of the match, until the last note. And the tweet is addressed to the captain of his national team: “Harry Kane, singing is hard work.” Under the post a fan asks: «You make it look easy. If we reach the final, will you sing it?”. The prompt response: “I'll show Harry Kane how it's done.”
We'll see I'm ready

The topic of Oasis possibly performing Wonderwall in a final featuring England is a recurring theme for fans of the band and Liam's comment board. «If we reach the final it is mandatory that you go and sing Wonderwall“, writes another fan, to which the singer replies: “We'll see, I'm ready.”
England will face the fearsome Norway on Saturday, who have just eliminated Brazil. The winner will face one of Argentina or Switzerland. By winning both matches, England would find themselves in the final. It's not an easy path, but Liam is probably starting to check flights to New York.
Meanwhile, still on Sun who, through an anonymous insider, spoke of 12 concerts in six weeks at the Etihad stadium in Manchester starting from June 2027 and of 6 concerts over three weeks scheduled at Knebworth – home of a historic double concert by the band in 1996 – in September 2027. The band has not yet announced.
