Phil Collins has announced that he has no intention of returning to play live again following recent health problems. In a rare television appearance.
«The last 18 months I was ok, but before that no, it didn't go well. All the health problems came at the same time and everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong, but now everything is ok,” he told the BBC.
«I have a problem with my knee, in fact I've had it for some time. I played on it, I even toured on it. I had to have one operation, I ended up having five because it kept getting infected or ruptured. I haven't been active for a long time.”
On the future: «I just can't imagine myself playing live again. But I hadn't been this good in a while. They asked me to play at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but I declined, you have to be really fit for an event like that.”
And he continues: «You can't just go on stage, you have to try first; and by that time, if you haven't sung before, your voice will be broken, and therefore nothing good will come of it. I prefer not to do it.”
«Would I go on tour again? I would think about it first,” he admits. «I constantly tell myself that I have to go back to the studio. I have a lot of ideas for lyrics, and there are things half done, others already finished. There's something I could get to work on.”
