Charli XCX welcomes the warmer months with her new single SS26.
«Spring Summer 26/When the world is gonna end no hope for any of it»Charli sings over a background of gentle synths. “Yes, we are walking on a catwalk that leads straight to hell.” The video for the song is directed by Torso, who previously worked with Charli on the video for Von Dutchset in an airport. In the video, Charli walks along a catwalk lit by spotlights and with an audience in the shadows, before launching herself into the void.
SS26 follows Charli's recent single Rock Music and its B-side I Keep on Thinking About You Every Single Day and Night (the latter only available on vinyl and Instagram). The reaction to Rock Music was divided, particularly over the line in which Charli declared that “the dance floor is dead.”
A few days later, when he published a behind-the-scenes video, he commented on the reactions on the web. “I won't explain where it came from Rock Musicbut I just know that things can be fun, serious, sincere and joyful at the same time,” he said. “And that's how I feel about a lot of the things I create.”
In his recent tweets he reiterated this concept, writing that he “didn't want to push people away” or convince them to appreciate it. “If you understand me, you understand me,” he said. «And if you don't understand me, you don't understand me. And that's okay <3".
