Glass night is the new single by MERLOTavailable in digital stores from May 15, 2026. The song, intimate and direct, marks the artist's return after a period of silence.
Forgetting why you write songs can happen even to those who have already obtained millions of streams from their music. It is from this breaking point that it is born Glass night. The song was written in a moment of personal difficulty which for the Lucanian singer-songwriter marked a return to his own creative urgency.
The new song not only represents a record release, but expresses an awareness that came after months of doubts and anxiety. MERLOT In fact, he says he rediscovered the meaning of writing just when everything seemed to have stopped.

MERLOT starts again from “Glass night” after a period of confusion
Glass night was born in one of the most complicated moments experienced by the artist. The song takes on the role of an act of liberation. MERLOT he wrote it almost as a reaction to a personal block, after a period in which the weight of expectations and the comparison with standards and fashions had ended up distancing him from the more spontaneous part of making music.
The artist himself tells it:
“I wasn't well, after months of doubts and anxieties I picked up the guitar and started singing, I got to the chorus and started laughing because I understood why I write songs, I had forgotten it. The continuous pursuit of success, standards and fashions had made me lose the passion which thanks to Night of Glass has returned. The present kills the past, it happens to us very often and we don't even realize it. This time, however, I realized it, it's not the end but the beginning.”
Between guitar, suspended tension and a chorus that changes perspective
Fragility and lucidity coexist in the piece. Glass night proposes a suspended, almost cinematic atmosphere, which seems to progressively approach an emotional void and then changes direction in the chorus.
It is there that the meaning of the piece is reversed: “I have nothing left / but I laugh like crazy / because I can't lose anything else”. A phrase that shifts the weight of the story from the feeling of getting lost to the possibility of starting again.
Glass night bears the signature of Manuel Schiavone And Giovanni Zanaroliwhich also takes care of the production of the single.
