Madonna, Shakira and BTS will be the musical protagonists of the football World Cup final, which for the first time will host a halftime show on the model of the American Super Bowl. The first experiment in this sense was done in July 2025 when Doja Cat, Tems and J Balvin (joined by Coldplay) animated the half-time of the Club World Cup final won by Chelsea.
Flanked by the Muppets, Chris Martin of Coldplay, who is the curator of the show, announced it in a video. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund which aims to “raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and football for children around the world.”
The final will be held on Sunday, July 19 at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey. In 2022, the live broadcast of the grand final was followed by half a billion viewers. The “widespread” World Cup will begin on June 11th in Mexico City. During the opening ceremony J Balvin will perform, with guests Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, Tyla.
Shakira is among other things also the interpreter of the official song of the World Cup, Come on, come on.
