Bonnie Tyler remains in “serious but stable” condition. This was stated by the doctors at the hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she is hospitalized after the emergency intestinal surgery she underwent last week.
The update on the singer's health condition was published today on her official website. Despite the seriousness of the situation, doctors “are confident that he will make a full recovery.”
At the same time, the family complains about “the numerous sensationalist and false rumors circulating in the media” and in particular those spread by a person named Liberto Mealha, who in some interviews presented himself as a close friend of the singer. The family explains that “he does not represent her in any way and is not in contact with them about Bonnie's condition.”
«When there is further news on his condition we will publish another statement, but we ask the media to stop speculating or spreading absurd rumours, which only have the result of upsetting his family, friends and many fans. We once again ask for privacy and respect in this difficult time.”
Tyler was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery last Wednesday, May 6th. The first news about his condition and the success of the surgery had been reassuring. Two days later, however, the family released an update explaining that Tyler had been placed in a medically induced coma to aid her recovery. Today's update does not specify whether the singer is still in a coma.
This year the singer celebrates 50 years of her recording career (her debut single My! My! Honeycomb was released in 1976). The performance scheduled for May 22nd at a festival in Malta has been cancelled, the other tour dates are currently confirmed. The premiere is scheduled for May 30th in Wiesmoor, Germany.
