The Wet legband of the island of Wight founded by Rhian Teasdale And Hester Chambersannounce that the highly anticipated second album, Moisturizerwill be released on 11 July.
Written with Ellis Durand (Bass), Henry Holmes (battery) e Joshua Mobaraki (guitar, synth), Moisturizer It is fun, extravagant and fabulous, an unbridled performance of the muscles that the wet legs have been playing live in some years of tours. More incisive, more beautiful and where more perverse is needed, Moisturizer It is an album of crazy love songs and kisses data at the right time, played by a clan of among the most loved of the United Kingdom.
On tour for the whole world, the Wet Legs have turned into a live machine that treasured the success of the debut album: #1 in the ranking in the United Kingdom and abroad, three Grammy, two Brit Awards and over half a billion streaming. If success represents a crossroads for any new band – “becoming pop” or continuing to follow their muse – the wet legs have decisively chosen the second road, including that of working again with Dan Carey as a manufacturer. In March 2024 the band moved to Southwold to write: living together, working all day and watching horror films all nights, they soon found a new creative symbiosis and consequently all five members of the Wet Leg are authors of the songs of Moisturizer. “We were just having fun and exploring,” Chambers says. “We focused on: will it be fun to play it live? It was natural to write this second disc all together,” adds teasdale.
With the announcement of the album, the band shares the first taste of Moisturizer with the single “Catch These Fistts“. With an electrifying and indomitable groove,” Catch These Fistts “is pure dance-punk: bass notes that bounce on a screaming wall of synths, thunderous beat and the sharp voice of teasdale.
The video, directed by the band and shot on the island, is a tribute to Ti West, Cameron Crowe and their own video of “Wet Dream”, and is an introduction to Moisturizer Valley.
As in a couple of songs in Moisturizerthe inspiration of “Catch These Fistts” was the interaction with an aggressive man, told in the final verse of the song. But shit men are the only theme of Moisturizer (Even if “Mangetout” with his refrain “Get Lost Forever” looks like the photo of the divorce of Nicole Kidman in the form of a song), on the contrary, this is largely an album on being, like the song sings in “Pond Song”, so “Deep! In! Love !!!!”. Moisturizer Contains love songs of all kinds: stressed, with ball eyes, horny, beate, obsessive and mysterious.
Although previously teasdale felt allergic to write love songs, in Moisturizer He ended up finding the stimulating process. This new awareness is reflected in the cover of Moisturizer: A freak party in which Chambers and Teasdale show off long macabre and teasdale claws, which wears long kitsch socks and has no eyebrow, smiles diabolically to the camera. The artwork perfectly reflects the album: Moisturizer It is the band that raises the volume and gives us a record that is undoubtedly more daring, powerful and brazen.
Moisturizer It is available for pre-order in limited edition gatefold 3D in colored vinyl with autographed photos, vinyl picture disc, standard vinyl, cassette, CD and digital. Pre-order: Wet League Store | Digital
