The evocative rendition of the song was filmed for Amazon Music’s Songline series
Billie Eilish showcased her song “Skinny” for Amazon Music series Songline, performing the emotional track alongside her brother Finneas and a live orchestral band. Eilish recorded several songs for the series, previously sharing clips of “Birds of a Feather” and “L’Amour de Ma Vie.”
“Skinny” appears on Eilish’s most recent LP, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which arrived in May. She co-wrote and co-produced the 10-track album with Finneas, her frequent collaborator. The writing across the record explores topics of sexuality, physical appearance, and the breakthroughs the 22-year-old experiences while creating it.
“I feel like this album is me,” Eilish told Rolling Stone in her May 2024 cover story. “It’s not a character. It feels like the When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? version of me. It feels like my youth and who I was as a kid.”
Eilish also told Rolling Stone that “Skinny” feels like a companion piece to “What Was I Made For?,” for which she won Song of the Year at the Grammys and Best Original Song at the Oscars, as the lyrics tackle the misconception that losing weight signifies happiness.
In October, Eilish and Finneas performed on Saturday Night Live, opening with “Birds of a Feather” and later playing “Wildflower.” The singer is currently out on her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, which kicked off in late September. She will perform in Seattle, San Jose, and Los Angeles, among other West Coast cities, before concluding the North American trek on Dec. 17. Early next year, the singer will head to Australia, followed by Europe in the spring.
