Sea Johnto the century John Marescais one of 24 artists competing in Sanremo Youthwho will play for access to the subsequent stages in the December 3 episode.
He comes from Veneto and, in our mini-review of the competing song If I Were Happywe defined it as a modern version of what was, in the 90s and early 2000s, Gianluca Grignani.
An attitude that has roots in the ratings of Sea Johnwith a strong rock and metal influence:
“I come from listening to Linkin Park, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, but in Sanremo I chose to bring a more accessible song to a wider audience.
The Sanremo stage is one of those where I want to try to bring a clear message, but it is not a song that I wrote specifically for the Festival: it is part of me.
The question I ask myself in the text is what Sea John is, whether it is also something different and how I would react if I discovered that it could be something else. Am I just sadness? And, if there is something different, how should I deal with it?
I think the Sanremo stage is the place to ask questions, while I look for the answers by writing songs, not in that context.”
On the comparison with Gianluca Grignani:
“The aesthetic similarity has often been pointed out to me over the years, but from an artistic point of view I admit that I don't know much about his music, nor Italian music in general, apart from the main pillars.
From the little I have listened to, however, especially of the early Grignani, the comparison makes me very happy, because he has proven to be an artist with a capital A. Destinazione Paradiso, for example, is a great piece.”
What to expect from the race and post-race?
“It was an entry without an incredible plan behind it, but there is a great desire to do well and take advantage of the opportunity. For me, already participating in the episode is something unexpected.
Let's see how it goes: it would be a great goal to reach Ariston in February.
I have a lot to say and, if the opportunity arises to do it in front of many people, I will try to take it.”
