The brand new song by the band comes out today as a surprise U2 from the title “Street Of Dreams”.
It is the first single from the band's new studio album, the title of which has not yet been announced. It will be U2's first album in nine years, scheduled for release later this year.
The video clip for the song was filmed in Mexico City in May, where the band also participated in the final of the “Street Child World Cup 2026” tournament at Parque Ecològico Lago de Texcoco.
Filming near Plaza Santo Domingo attracted a large crowd of fans despite impending bad weather. Thunder and rain unexpectedly caused a generator to fail, and a local family welcomed the four band members into their apartment to allow them to finish filming from their balcony.
Produced by Jacknife Lee, “Street of Dreams” features the unmistakable U2 sound created by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr., who in September they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the group's formation.
The band was born after Larry posted a handwritten note on the school noticeboard at Mount Temple Comprehensive in Dublin, reading:
“Looking for a drummer to form a band.”
“Street of Dreams” is available in digital format, as well as on streaming platforms (DSP).
