A historic Roman night that sealed the love of 500 thousand spectators for Genesis in the Circus Maximus arena. It was the last European date of the “Turn It On Again Tour”. A concert film was made from that event, “Genesis: When In Rome 2007”, which is now broadcast on Wednesday 20 November at 00.10 on Rai 5 (then streaming on RaiPlay).
In the setlist some classics of the English group such as the suite “In The Cage/The Cinema Show/Duke's Travels”, “Firth Of Fifth”, “I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)”, “Carpet Crawlers”, “Home By The Sea”, “Turn It On Again”, “Land Of Confusion” and “Mama” and many others.
Turn It On Again: The Tour marked the group's return to activity after a nine-year hiatus and also saw the return to the lineup of drummer and singer Phil Collins, who had left the band in 1996
Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford announce the return of Genesis on 7 November 2006. Collins on this occasion defines the tour as a “selection of concerts”. Initially the three wanted to reunite the original band, the one with 5 members: Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel initially said they were available, but Gabriel later gave up. The plan to perform a tour in the footsteps of “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” falls through and at this point Hackett's participation is useless. Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson will once again accompany the trio. The tour is divided into two parts: Europe and North America. There tranche European Union begins in Helsinki, Finland, on 11 June 2007.
“Genesis: When In Rome 2007” is the complete testimony of the last European date of the “Turn It On Again: The Tour”, held at the Circus Maximus in Rome on 14 July 2007, in which Genesis played in front of around half a million of spectators.
After separating for a time, the members of Genesis who survived Peter Gabriel's death (Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford) later reunited for this sold-out world tour.
