Back on the scene in January with “Hard Times Furious Dancing”, Snapped Ankles will present their new work on the stages of the ARCI Bellezza in Milan and at the Covo Club in Bologna this week. Formed in 2011, the bold London art-rock project reinvented the concept of alternative music by mixing post-punk elements, Krautrock, electronics and tribal rhythms, all characterized by a strong visual and performative component. Their music is an explosion of synthpressing rhythms and groove primordial, often accompanied by an aesthetic that recalls the wild and mysterious nature of the forests, combined with an irreverent criticism of contemporary society and technological progress. During their shows, the members of the group are often dressed with tribal costumes, masks and other equipment that accentuate their link with their imagination “Forestry”, packaging an immersive and collective experience, which mixes music, dance and visual art. Over the years, Snapped Ankles have built a real cult thanks to works such as “Come Play the Trees” (2017) and “Stunning Luxury” (2020): their sound has evolved through a mix of teutonic rhythms and industrial pulsations, while maintaining a strong tribal and disturbing identity, which is reflected in the issue of their albums, which explore the contrast between nature and technology, progress and gentrification. With “Forest of Your Problems” (2021), they continued to explore increasingly complex and disturbing sound territories, bringing their “forest ritual” to new levels of expression, both in the studio and on stage.
