Sentient Ruin
Almost like a lightning bolt, we are invested by the massacred charge of the Samiarus, a new American team that, after a single and a demo, arrives at the publication of the first EP thanks to the effort of Sentient Ruin Laboratories, a perfect label to welcome a project focused on the sounds to which this band is dedicated.
In fact, ours in the heavily blackened Death metal, which makes grammatic War Metal his favorite expression method, albeit with some distinctions. Of the old school of the genre – the one led by Blasphemy and Archgoat, to be understood – remains in reality, while much more relevant is the comparison with contemporary realities such as Diocletian and Heresiarch, without ever forgetting the inevitable effigy of the Revenge that fully underlies this new musical project.
Less esoteric and cursed, the terror evoked by the Samiarus is in fact completely concrete and real, according to a heavy incede that crushes without mercilessly whatever you find along the way. The oppressive midtempo of “New Iron Age” violently inaugurates the path taken, immediately reporting the propensity of our towards the slow and not too supported times, ideal for transmitting the power of guitars and letting the vocal lines flow of hatred of but, filtered by effects and vomited on the microphone without any sign of grace or benevolence. “Torment's spear” also attacks ferocious by focusing on heaviness, before the roles are drastically reversed with “Eradicting Wind” and “Throne Devoured”: in this case, the basis of the songs becomes a Blast-Beat not too fast interspersed sometimes by some more rhythmic riffs, showing a more chaotic aspect that finds its peak in “Crushed by lower” of Chiara School Death Worship.
Before you can completely drop into the synthetic hell of the Samiarus, the player arrives at the end of the path, leaving a little bitterness in the mouth and some doubts about how the songwriting of these Californians could have developed on a little longer durations. For the moment, we accept this EP as a declaration of intent and a first certificate of existence for them, rightly very close stylistically to their influences and not very interested in exploring and experimenting, but rather intent on destroying and hitting as strong as possible.
To date, we consider ourselves pleasantly convinced by this test, well aware that in the future something more will be needed, both qualitatively and quantitatively, to establish itself with personality in the populated kingdom of the Black-Death Metal.
