The edition begins 2025 of the music competition dedicated to the new author song, The artist who was not there. The prize, conceived and organized by The island that was not therestarts again for the 22nd time.
The competition is national; And its precise purpose is to enhance Italian music, its composers and interpreters, regardless of the language and the proposed genre. It is open to all artists/groups, without any age limit. In addition, the term “author song” must be understood in its broadest sense, including all the facets and contaminations of this form of art.
The prize The artist who was not 2025 It is divided into two categories:
– general, reserved for those who sing in Italian, dialect or international language;
– instrumental, reserved for composers who do not use a text to express their creativity.
Registrations must be submitted by April 23, 2025. The artist who was not 2025: the selections
By participating in the competition, the artists have the opportunity to make their project known. The evaluation will take into consideration the intrinsic value of the proposed songs, the originality, the capacity for writing, the interpretation and the potential impact in live performances.
The winners of the prize are identified at the outcome of a path of listening and selections, now consolidated for years. After an initial assessment of all members by the editorial staff of The islandthe most interesting projects are identified: 40 for the general section + 10 for the instrumental. These projects will go into the crossing of all the editors, correspondents and collaborators of the magazine who will identify 20 artists/groups for the general section and 5 for the instrumental one.
At this point, the material is sent to a jury of external quality and all the ex-vi-vinitors of the prize, which will have two weeks to indicate 10 names for the general section and 2 names for the instrumental. From this listening group, made up of about 200 artists and professionals, the finalists who will play live to the final will be chosen.
The date of the final is scheduled for the 4 July 2025at the theater/auditorium of CPM Music Institute Of Milan (music school created and managed by Franco Mussida).
The prizes of the competition
Also this year, the artist/winning group of the General Section wins participation in Tour of L'Isola. It is a tour of 10 dates in 10 different cities, which guarantees a contribution (omnicomprehensive) of Euro 500 for each individual date.
The initiative, born from The island that was not thereinvolves a series of premises scattered throughout theItalyunited to give voice and space to the winner of the prize. The goal is to bring the artist/group out of its territorial contexts and thus get to know better in other areas ofItaly. The artist who was not there He also participates in the Nuovo Imaie call, which provides for a contribution of 10,000 euros for the realization of at least 6 dates managed by a professional booking agency.
The winner of the instrumental section will be guaranteed 3 participations in festivals or reviews of national importance, where he can best express his artistic path.
