Superproducer Tay Keith, who throughout his career has collaborated with artists such as Future, Travis Scott and Beyoncé, was found dead in his Nashville apartment on the afternoon of Thursday 18 June. He was 29 years old. The Police Department said no criminal causes are currently suspected in the death.
«Brytavious Chambers (this is his real name, ed) was found lifeless in his Martin Street apartment this afternoon by officers who intervened to check on his state of health”, reads the statement. “The cause of death is currently unclassified, pending autopsy results.”
Born on September 20, 1996 in Tennessee, Keith began producing beats at the age of 14, developing a personal style strongly influenced by Southern hip hop pioneers such as Three 6 Mafia and 8Ball & MJG.
In 2018, their work alongside fellow Memphis BlocBoy JB began to attract attention far beyond the city limits. Their music also reached Drake's ears. And at just 21 years old, Keith achieved his first big success thanks to Look Alivemade with Drake and BlocBoy JB.
In the same year he created several important collaborations, including the co-production of Sicko Mode by Travis Scott which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2018, as well as being nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Song. But there are many other works: Not Alike by Eminem, contained in the rapper's tenth studio album, Kamikaze, Before I Let Gobonus track from the live album Homecoming: The Live Album by Beyoncé and many others.
