Pitbull gave a heartfelt thank you to all “the baldies” who came along to last night’s BST Hyde Park concert, setting a record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps in the process.
Thousands of fans descended on London’s Hyde Park last night (July 10) donning bald caps, aviators, and leather jackets in the spirit of Mr Worldwide. Ahead of his performance, concertgoers gathered by the main stage to be officially counted, and it was later confirmed that the record had been set at 22,141 bald cap wearers, something he described as a “blessing” and an “honour”.
Having later taken to the Great Oak Stage to play hits including ‘Don’t Stop The Party’, ‘International Love’, ‘I Feel Good’ and more, he took a moment to thank the fans who emulated his style.
“I’m just taking it all in,” an emotional Pitbull told the crowd. “It’s hard for me to say I’m speechless. But all I can think of right now is what my family went through in order for me to be able to be someone free.
“An immigrant family out of Cuba. To be able to pursue my dream and be on the stage like this, represent with all the baldies around the world. This is priceless. There’s no way I can say thank you. There is no words I can say what I feel right now.”

“And it goes to show you if you believe it, you dream it, you can achieve it. We want to say thank you. You know why, Baldies? ‘Cause we motherfucking did it! So not only are we here to congratulate, we’re here to celebrate.”
Elsewhere at the gig, he was joined by special guest Kesha – also in a bald cap for the occasion – to perform their hit ‘Timber’ together for the first time in 13 years. It comes after re-credited Kesha on the song, following backlash after her name being removed from the 2013 video.
Pitbull also paid tribute to his English “baldies” with a cover of Oasis‘ ‘Wonderwall’, now a staple of England’s World Cup games. “Being here I thought, what was the best way to represent you all,” he explained. “And a good friend of mine said, I think you should do this record. So, let’s not just talk about it, let’s do it…”
BBC Radio 1 Breakfast presenter Greg James and TikTok creator Jack Remmington kickstarted the record-setting idea last year, after the latter posted a video suggesting the record should be attempted at BST, while James helped get Pitbull on board.
Previously, one of the biggest crowds to wear bald caps at Pitbull’s shows was at his sold-out shows at The O2 in London last year. Footage of the audiences soon went viral, and led to fans at other tour dates doing the same.
The shows were as part of the European leg of his ‘Party After Dark Tour’, where he was joined by Lil Jon. On stage at The O2, he addressed the crowd and thanked them for getting dressed up for the event.
“Now I wanna say a special thank you to everybody who came out with bald caps here tonight,” he said at the time. “It’s amazing to see, and it’s amazing to feel.”
When Pitbull was confirmed for BST Hyde Park, he was also announced as part of the line-up for the new Roundhay Festival in Leeds. Both will also be headlined by Lewis Capaldi next summer as part of his UK and Ireland headline tour.
