That concert turned into a legendary film released the following year and in a live disc which became cult, two essential works that today return to make it dream: “Pink Floyd at Pompeii – McMLXXII“!
From 24 to 30 April it will be in cinemas The epochal 1972 concert film directed by Adrian Maben. May 2nd Live Pink Floyd at Pompeii – McMLXXII will be released by Live Pink Floyd (Legacy Recording / Sony Music) in CD, digital audio, and – for the first time – in Dolby Atmos and vinyl.
Pink Floyd at Pompeii precedes the exit of “The Dark Side of the Moon“.
The film – digitally remarked in 4K from the original shot in 35mm film, with improved and remixed audio by Steven Wilson – documents what Pink Floyd did before becoming giants of the rankings on both the banks of the Atlantic, where their music continues to be celebrated still today.
Set among the suggestive ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheater of Pompeii, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd in an intimate concert, without public. Filmed in October 1971, it was the first live concert never made in Pompeiiand includes fundamental songs such as “Echoes”, “A saucerful of secrets” And “One of These Days”. The spectacular shots of the amphitheater, both during the day and at night, amplify the magic of the performance. The film also includes rare images behind the scenes of the band at work on “The Dark Side of the Moon“At the Abbey Road Studios.
