Liam Gallagher returns to talk about the possibility of a new Oasis album and, once again, cools fans' expectations. Since the band announced the reunion culminating in the 2025 tour, the rumors about a possible album of unreleased songs have never stopped, but the singer continues to maintain that it is not part of the group's plans.
A couple of years ago he had already fueled speculation with a joke about X, only to later deny everything: “There is no Oasis album in the works, I was just joking.” In the last few hours he returned to the topic by responding to yet another request from a fan. “No, I'm not prepared for criticism if it doesn't sell 100 million copies in the first hour alone, if it doesn't cure the nation's bad breath and constipation and if it doesn't turn back the clock on Cher and other bullshit. Let's just do a few shows and be happy, thanks,” wrote Gallagher, implying that the weight of expectations would simply be unmanageable.
Despite ruling out new work, Liam still enjoyed imagining what an Oasis album might sound like: “I'd like to think it would still sound like Oasis and we wouldn't turn into a bunch of electronic umbrellas desperately trying to keep up with THE BOYS, you know brother?”
It is not the first time that the singer addresses the topic. Already in April he had explained with his usual sarcasm that, if the album had not been up to the standard of the band's classics, “people would complain, all the music magazines would give it 4 stars out of 5, we would cry, the pressure would become too much and we would break up again, so fuck it”.
As often happens on social media, Gallagher alternated jokes and provocations. Shortly before, he had in fact responded to another fan by ironically announcing that the new album would be “coming out next week”. In other messages he said that he “risked losing his life” during the halftime show of the football World Cup final and also replied to System Of A Down, who had joked about Oasis during a concert in recent days: “This hasn't gone unnoticed, they will receive something very soon via post”.
