One of the questions that arose after the announcement of the Oasis reunion was: who will accompany them? For example, who will play drums with Liam and Noel Gallagher?
On Saturday, the group's original drummer Tony McCarroll said he was “delighted for them and the fans” even though he was dumped by Oasis over disagreements with Noel in 1995 and four years later sued them for 15 million pounds (he won 550,000). McCarroll doesn't expect a phone call, “but if it were to happen, it would be a nice ending.”
It is unlikely that he will be the drummer for the reunion, although it would be nice to see him on stage for a song, on a date, perhaps in Manchester. The chosen one could instead be Andy White, a musician beloved by fans who played with Oasis from 1995 to 2004. A clue: yesterday White posted on Instagram a photo of the bass drum of his kit decorated with the Union Jack from when he played with Oasis.
The photo is not accompanied by any caption. Is it just a nostalgic image? A nomination? A way of saying that he was chosen? The other possible drummers, among those who have played in the past with Oasis, are Zak Starkey and Chris Sharrock, the latter drummer of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
Another question that has been asked after the announcement of the reunion is: will they make a new album? It's premature to ask, but in this regard a statement by Noel on the podcast has resurfaced Rolling Stone Now of last year to which he explained that, in addition to Council Skiesduring the lockdown he had written two albums: «An acoustic one, with bare arrangements, which I started recording before the tour. And a very, very guitar-based stadium rock album».
The idea was to release the acoustic album first and then the guitar and “exuberant” one. Wouldn't Liam be the right singer for this second album?
