L7's Jennifer Finch is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain tumor. After radiotherapy, one of his representatives said, unexpected complications required several surgical interventions. The operations have left her with serious physical problems and she now requires a level of medical care that her family can no longer provide.
Friends and family have therefore launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to cover the costs of treatment and recovery. The money will pay for professional nursing care, medical equipment, rehabilitation and therapy, as well as other home care needs. It will also help cover medical expenses incurred. The fundraising will also help support the creation of an archive of Finch's work and complete what is described as “a major creative project”, due for publication next year.
Due to illness Finch will not be on stage with L7 for the US part of the Last Hurrah Tour scheduled when the musician was well. She herself asked her bandmates to continue according to plan. “We are devastated by the news and are close to her with all our love,” writes the band. “Jennifer is part of the family and we want her to feel all the strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”
“My dear friend Jennifer Finch of L7 is sick,” writes Courtney Love. «It has been a point of reference for me – and that of many other people – for longer than I can remember. His music has changed the lives of many people over decades. I love her more than anything… help her if you can.”
Finch was L7's bassist during their heyday in the 1990s. She left the band in 1996 and returned for the 2015 reunion and 2019 album Scatter the Rats.
