The multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning rock band KINGS OF LEON has released the new album – the ninth studio album – entitled “Can We Please Have Fun”and preceded by the single “Nowhere to Run”.
“Nowhere to Run” is accompanied by a video clip shot with the creative direction of the band, portrayed while they dance and let loose.
The band had full control of all the creative elements of this album, from start to finish, managing every single detail, from the music to the artwork, to the images and visuals, original and unconventional. The clips were shot in two days in Nashville by them.
It's the kind of music the band says they've always wanted to make: “This record was special from the start. From the first meeting (with Kid Harpoon), we couldn't have been more in tune“, says Nathan. “It was the most fun record I've ever been on“, Caleb declares. “It's like we allowed ourselves to be musically vulnerable“, adds Nathan. “I like it when a rock band isn't ashamed to admit that every song doesn't have to be #1. 11“.
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE FUN
“CAN WE PLEASE HAVE FUN”, as the title suggests, is the manifesto of one of the greatest rock bands of today. A band that lets loose, tries new things and – yes – has fun. Recorded at Nashville's Dark Horse studio and produced alongside new collaborator Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Florence + the Machine), the album shows a new side of KINGS OF LEON.
In the new recording project, the band returns to its gritty origins and, at the same time, ventures into new directions. It's the sound of a band cohesive in both vision and purpose, free from all expectations, and the album KINGS OF LEON always wanted to make. “It was the most fun record I've ever been a part of,” says Caleb.
KINGS OF LEON are gearing up for a monumental year and are ready to take on the world. “When you're a band, you have a bond like no other… and when you're a family, you have a bond like no other“, Caleb says. “We are both. I thought: if we put all our energies together, who can stop us? Who can stop us if not us?”.
