The Athenian philosopher tells of a small group of men tied up at the bottom of a cave, unaware that their perception of reality is limited to the shadows projected on the wall by a torch placed behind them. When one of them manages to free himself and discover the outside world, his story is greeted with skepticism by his companions.
In this passage i Funcool highlight the importance of the search for truth and awareness that free the individual from the chains with which society keeps him blocked in the totalizing beliefs that cage him and in the suffering he faces in his life. Everyone can recover freedom in a different way: through the emotional rediscovery of the Self, with the search for answers in the world and in the universe, with rebellion, sometimes through desperation or simply with a bit of luck.
In a collective context that tends to make anyone feel alone and without human or spiritual support and that dulls the senses with distracting palliatives, finding one's way towards the light becomes essential.
Thanks to the use of unusual instruments such as the kazoo, the banjo, the ukubass and the congas, “The myth of the cave” presents a unique soundscape that will not leave indifferent those who appreciate rock contaminated with other genres but with arrangements that are very reminiscent of the sounds of the 80s.
Funcool formed in 2021, forming a quartet during an evening dedicated to jamming for fun. Initially, the band offered acoustic reinterpretations of rock and pop classics. Over the years, the acoustic soul of the group has mixed with more powerful sounds, leading them to work on original songs, the result of the collaboration between Christina's lyrics and Ivano's musical ideas, integrated by the contributions of Franco and Marco.
In 2024, Funcool participated in the national contest “Cover Me”, organized by the Noi and Springsteen Association, reaching the final in Bergamo and winning with a “French waltz” style reinterpretation of the song “Sad Eyes”. At the end of 2024, the band signs with the Sorry Mom! label.
