Christian Le Bartz, the historic Frontman of the Rockets, passed away on February 4, 2025 at the age of 73. The news of his disappearance was made known only now. Born in Montuil on April 25, 1951, Le Bartz was a key figure in the formation of the famous French group of Space Rock, who made his debut in 1974. His contribution to the band was fundamental until 1983, the year in which i Rockets took a break from the scenes.
During his stay, the group reached his commercial peak, with songs that have become a symbol of the genre, such as “On the road again” and “Galactica”. His voice and his scenic presence have contributed to defining the identity of the group, making it a point of reference for Space Rock and Synthwave fans. His exit from the Rockets in 1983 marks the end of an era for the band, who was unable to replicate the success achieved in the early years. The Bartz will remain forever linked to that legendary season of cosmic rock.
Just in these days, the Rockets are on tour in Italy, bringing their legendary fusion of Space Rock and electronic sounds that marked the history of music on stage. The band, still led by the founder and keyboard player Jean-Philippe Rykiel, is engaged in a series of concerts that will continue tonight at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. Two unmissable dates will follow: on February 15 at the Santa Chiara Auditorium Theater in Trento and, finally, on February 19 at the Ivo Chiesa theater in Genoa, where fans will be able to relive the cosmic atmospheres that have made the group famous. A unique opportunity to witness live to a fundamental chapter of electronic rock, just as the band celebrates its historicity, even if without her beloved Frontman Christian Le Bartz. Music continues to travel beyond the stars, to remind us of its indelible impact on the international music scene.
