In the video, directed by Francesco Luperto For Zima FilmCortese decides to go and visit the old dusty warehouse of his brother, a great cinema and Blockbuster enthusiast, and a VHS collector since childhood.
He chooses a video cassette that has no cover, no label, no title, and out of curiosity he inserts it into the old video recorder. It starts like this road movie that between unexpected events, enchanting landscapes, arguments, passion and a final twistall in a single day, says a romantic love and beautiful between the two protagonists.
“Blockbusters” it's a song that tells a story a movie love that could choose to heroically overcome difficulties and become a blockbuster and instead, in bitterness and suffering, he ends up leaving the memories inside the house, the passion under the skin, the illusion that one can be friends, forgetting the very high poetry of a relationship that only remembered a certain gigantic beauty, “like the buildings in New York, like the sky in an African desert at night”.
The taste of analogue, from the instruments to the mastering, typical of Cortese's production, returns in this song, putting together the author's songcurrently defined as indie, where words and melody dominate the emotional journey, al synth-pop who has already signed the sound of songs like “Blues Bar”, “Maldidenti”, “Gallipoli”through the prestigious hands of the producer Spring.
“Who knows why, in songs as in films, sad love stories, especially when they end badly, excite us and move us; therefore, they are the ones that dig into the soul the most. It happened to me once again some time ago while watching a romantic movie which is then a revisiting of a blockbuster from many years ago, inspired in turn by a best seller of English romantic literature. And so, halfway between the reflection of that story in my life experiences and my experience of life fictionalized as if it were the plot of a movie, I wrote this song.” – Courteous.

Born and raised in Salento with the sea in his nose, beautiful sunsets in his eyes and some instrument always at hand, spoiled by beauty. Perhaps this is why I suffer from a sort of creative voyeurism that pushes me to observe the world, find and talk about its beauty even where and when there seems to be none.
Michele Cortesein art “Courteous”, Salento singer-songwriter born in 1985. Winner in 2008 of the first Italian edition of X-Factor with the vocal band Aram Quartet. In 2015 he won the “International Song Festival of Viña del Mar“in Chile, he was co-coach of the first Chilean edition of the television talent show The Voice, he has significant artistic experiences abroad on the most important stages in Latin America. Overseas he has also played iconic roles in musical such as “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Evita”. From 2008 to today he has published eight recordingsthe most recent is the EP entitled “What are we doing?” (January 2026) entirely recorded transforming a house in the Salento countryside into a real recording studio with musicians and instruments in every room. He is the protagonist voice of “Mogol tells Mogol“, a storytelling in which Mogol talks about his successes and Cortese interprets them. He is currently on tour with a format entitled “Courteous truck”, in which he plays his songs not on a conventional stage but inside a vintage van.
