Last night, Thursday 16 July, Asti transformed into the epicenter of Italian electronic pop by hosting the first and highly anticipated date of the summer tour “Esseri Umani” by Bluvertigo.
A return to the summer scenes that smells like an unmissable event, especially because it sees the complete original lineup: Morgan on vocals and bass, Andy Fumagalli on keyboards and synthesizers, Sergio Carnevale on drums and Livio Magnini on guitars. Together, the four pioneers of Italian synth-pop have demonstrated that time, for them, truly seems to have stopped. Or perhaps they have simply always been one step ahead.
A journey into the “Chemical Trilogy”
The concert opened under the best auspices of a precise setlist but open to Morgan's usual, brilliant improvisations. From the first notes the atmosphere became dense, suspended between the technical rigor of the machines and the biting irony that has always distinguished the band.
The Asti public was dragged into a truly hypnotic journey through the cornerstones of their discography, starting from the historical successes extracted from the famous “chemical trilogy” (Iodine, Non-metal metal And Zero). Cult pieces like “Iodine”, “LSD Your Dimension” and the inevitable “Absinthe” they made the entire square dance, confirming how that typically late Nineties sound is actually incredibly current and fresh in the summer of 2026.
Morgan led the show with his magnetic theatricality, constantly dialoguing with an Andy in a state of grace, whose synthesizer embroideries remain the group's trademark. Sergio Carnevale's rhythmic precision and the rock lashes of Livio Magnini's guitar protected the wall of sound.
The climax of the evening arrived on the notes of “Out of time”sung in unison by a heterogeneous audience: from early fans, who grew up with the group's cassettes, to the very young people who are rediscovering the Italian new wave.
Last night's concert at AstiMusica was not just a simple concert, but the dress rehearsal (passed with flying colors) of a tour that promises to be very hot and which will visit the main Italian festivals in the coming weeks. Bluvertigo are back to reclaim their status as a cult band of Italian music and, judging by the energy released in Piazza Alfieri, their “dimension” is still decidedly very high.
