The iconic 2000-capacity venue in Nottingham city centre was the site of a blaze this morning (May 28), with police cordoning off the area of Clarendon Street and Talbot Street and fire engines attending the incident at around 9:30am. Rock City’s owner George Akins later told the Nottingham Post that everybody inside the building had been evacuated and the fire had been successfully extinguished. A lineup announcement of musicians who supposedly agreed to perform at the “Great American State Fair” on Washington DC's National Mall as part of Freedom 250 on Wednesday has sparked chaos among the performers. Morris Day, leader of the Time, promptly announced that a performance by his funk ensemble was “a no for me,” and others have followed suit. The initial lineup of musicians for the event — which was organized by Keith Krach, an appointee of President Trump — included Martina McBride, Flo Rida, Vanilla Ice, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, Milli Vanilli, the Commodores, and Bret Michaels. Toe in the sore announces new single with a job advert on LinkedIn. Is called Businessmanand comes out Friday 5 June for BMG / Beautiful Records. The viral gimmick that opens the song is a communication stunt built on the dynamics of contemporary corporate language, deliberately taken to the extreme. The ad appeared on LinkedIn on behalf of Tononellapiaga Inc.: a search for personnel for a position that is exasperated to the point of paradox, with continuous availability, management of calls and emails even in the middle of August, impeccable attitude to performative productivity from social networks and admittedly surreal…

It was the first time she hadn’t heard much of the album as it was being made — hardly any, in fact — so Vile was extra curious to know what she would think. So he left her listening to his new record with headphones at their home in Philadelphia, but sat in an adjacent room. “I didn’t know what to think,” Vile, 46, says, recounting the anxious experience of sitting within earshot as his spouse listened to his new record for the…

Sonny Rollins may have been a celebrated jazz artist, but behind the scenes, the Grammy Award winner and National Medal of Arts recipient was a bit of an enigma. And in a collection of personal writings compiled in a 2024 book, the saxophonist and composer who was once called “the only jazz recluse” revealed that he often doubted the fanfare surrounding him. “I face the startling and intriguing reality that there is within me a force working hard…
Roger Daltrey has more tour dates booked for his upcoming solo tour than he played last year on the Who‘s North American farewell tour. It seems improbable that the singer, 82, would want to do more, but as he explains over the phone, touring solo is an “easier go” for him than fronting the Who. In fact, “grueling” is the word Daltrey uses to describe Who tours, since they’re so demanding, but the way he says it, with both resoluteness and genuineness in his voice, suggests he’d still want to tour anyway, anyhow, anywhere he chooses — if he can…
When Rob Base died on May 22 following a private battle with lung cancer, Young MC was left reeling. Base was a close friend who had attended his wedding in Phoenix just a few years earlier. So when Young MC's agent told him he could take Base's June 26 slot at a Washington, DC concert called “Freedom 250: The Great American State Fair,” he accepted. What Young MC says he didn't know at the time was that the event had ties to the Trump administration. On Wednesday (May 27), organizers posted an Instagram flyer touting the lineup, and the backlash…
