The German composer Max Richter has a new album on the way. While the Flood Rages arrives October 16 and features 15 tracks taken from his score of MaddAddam, a ballet inspired by a trilogy of post-apocalyptic Margaret Atwood novels. The standalone album deals with themes of technological acceleration, ecological crisis, and human connection. Stephen Morris has said he “doesn’t know” if he’ll return to New Order due to serious illness. In June, the Manchester band confirmed that Morris, as well as Gillian Gilbert, would not be touring with them in the “foreseeable future” due to “personal health reasons”. Morris was the drummer in Joy Division alongside Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Ian Curtis, and the remaining members formed New Order after Curtis’ death in 1980. Neurosis will embark on a handful of dates this fall in support of their celebrated comeback album, An Undying Love for a Burning World. In addition to the band’s previously announced gigs in San Francisco, the group added dates in Brooklyn, Chicago, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Boston, and L.A. The Boston gig is part of Converge’s Saddest Day festival and will see the band playing alongside Converge, Cave In, and others.
