You might think Dave Grohl, the man who mixes food in a pot and pushes material into the stories published by Feed the Streets, a non-profit organization that collects food, hygiene products, clothing and more founded in Los Angeles. The stories date back to yesterday, Grohl's 56th birthday.
«Let's prepare breakfast and lunch for tomorrow. This evening we are distributing dinner to displaced families and prisoner firefighters”, we read in the stories. The latter are the inmates called to help put out the fires in the Californian city. There are over 1,000 in the field, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced.
The participation of prisoners in operations is not new to this crisis, but an option that has often been used for decades in the United States, not without controversy, for example resulting from the fact that they are paid very little compared to professionals and that they are more often victims of accidents at work.
It is certainly not the first time that Grohl has participated in charity initiatives, in particular Feed the Streets. For example, he participated in barbecues for the homeless during the Super Bowl and in Melbourne in 2023 he grilled meat for charity during the break days of the Foo Fighters' Australian tour.
