The Rolling Stones shared a music video for their song “Mr. Charm.” The cinematic clip, shot in Palmdale, California, stars Alexander Skarsgård and was directed by Henry Scholfield.
In the video, Skarsgård’s character arrives at a run-down motel and diner in the desert, where he immediately charms all of the patrons. Only one woman, played by model Sara Sampaio, seems immune to his magnetic allure.
The band also released a previously-unheard track, “Bad Luck Hideaway.” The song, a duet between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, features drums from Charlie Watts, which were recorded from the sessions at British Grove. The song was produced by Andrew Watt.
“Mr. Charm” comes off the Rolling Stones’ recent LP, Foreign Tongues, which was released in July via Capitol Records. Skarsgård is the latest actor to appear in one of the band’s videos for the album. Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton starred in the video for “Jealous Lover,” while Odessa A’zion appeared in the video for “In the Stars.” Previous actors in the band’s videos include Sydney Sweeney, Paul Mescal, Nicholas Hoult, Kristen Stewart, and Angelina Jolie, among others.
The Rolling Stones recorded Foreign Tongues at London’s Metropolis Studios. Guest artists on Foreign Tongues include Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, the Cure’s Robert Smith, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, and a special appearance by the band’s late drummer Charlie Watts.
Earlier this year, Jagger confirmed the band is considering doing a residency instead of touring. “I don’t know if tours are possible,” Richards said in June. “It’s the traveling that takes it out of you. But I do see the possibility of us doing a residency somewhere. Wherever it is, London, New York, Paris, anywhere. I’ll play Rome! But I don’t see why they shouldn’t be able to throw some shows together in a new format.”
Richards elaborated in a recent Billboard cover story. “I know that this is all being kicked around,” Richards said. “This year, we just decided, ‘Look, let’s get the record out, and let’s not rush things.’ So I see no reason why next year — I don’t see anything this year, I can’t rush it that much — but I see no reason why next year, good Lord willing, we shouldn’t be able to, as you say, maybe a residency, something. Maybe you find a different way of taking the thing on the road. Bring the road to us. That’s my suggestion.”
