Paste Magazine has started a big project destined to develop over several months: choosing the best songs of all time. The idea is to proceed decade by decade, selecting favorite singles and album tracks, before creating a big definitive ranking over the course of the autumn. After the top 100 of the 60s, here is the ranking of the 100 best songs of the 70s. “We do not intend to claim that our ranking is better than all the others, we have rather tried to offer an interesting perspective on what could have been the greatest decade in the history of music – underlines the magazine – Some of our choices will inevitably coincide with those made over the years by other publications, because certain songs are really too good to be excluded. At the same time, we did not want to limit ourselves to the songs contained in the albums that can be found in any record store therefore include indisputable hits and personal choices, all released between 1970 and 1979. We have included only one song per artist”.
Here, then, is the ranking of the 100 best songs of the 70s, according to Paste Magazine (full report here). On OndaRock you will find our ranking of the best records of the 70s.
