Second solo chapter for Albert Eno after his debut in 2021 with “Dark'n'Stormy”. Born in 1980, the former Kismet frontman abandons every superstructure to put the concept of duality at the center of the narrative: two, like two parallel lines that advance next to each other without ever intersecting, a metaphor for many relationships, not just sentimental ones. The album intends to explore precisely the thin space that separates the two lines: distance, memory, the need to stay, the fear of getting lost. But “II” intends to be above all a collection of songs about the persistence of bonds, narrated through an intimate register, moving within the context of an electro-acoustic, essential songwriting, which has its roots in the legacy of masters of the caliber of Jeff Buckley and Chris Cornell (with all the necessary distances), where the voice becomes an expressive force with an enormous emotional load.
Consisting of ten tracks and produced together with Ugo Bolzoni at the Moscow Mule Studio, the album boasts a series of collaborations that enrich its sound palette in a decisive way. First of all Frida Bollani Magoni (the very young daughter of Stefano Bollani), piano and voice in the moving “Stay”, the absolute summit of the project, then the guitars of Alberto “Crivez” Crivellari who participate in the construction of the rarefied atmospheres of “Empty Lung Apnea” and the voice of Martlene which ennobles the delicate final act, “Lullaby”. Albert's minimalist inspiration is colored along the way with multiple nuances, the result of a lifetime of listening, demonstrating how the essentiality of voice and guitar can touch very deep chords, how formal simplicity and authenticity can translate into great artistic depth. Signature pop, melodic and refined, not without some welcome ripples (“Be Your World”).
