On the occasion of the first Ozzy Day, scheduled in Birmingham on July 22nd, the publisher Silvery Quail announced the publication of the Italian version of the book “The Beautiful Death Of Ozzy Osbourne: How Metal Teaches Us To Live”, written by Keith Kahn-Harris. The highly anticipated Italian edition, with hard cover, is entitled “The Glorious Legacy of Ozzy Osbourne” and in 288 pages will also include numerous photographic documents.
There are tons of books about the late Ozzy Osbourne and his band, Black Sabbath, many of which attempt to answer the usual question: “What does heavy metal mean and how did it originate?”, but there has never been a truly rigorous analysis regarding the socio-cultural implications of Ozzy's career. The pioneer of metal criticism Keith Kahn-Harris therefore presents an unprecedented and visionary exploration of Ozzy Osbourne, his music and metal culture.
Keith Kahn-Harris structures the chapters of his analysis differently than usual, each of which focuses on an aspect of Ozzy and the wider metal culture, starting from the mention of the “Back To The Beginning” concert held in Birmingham in July 2025, Ozzy's last live performance, destined to remain engraved in the history of popular culture as an event that defined an era. The portrait of the singer is accurate and honest, supported by numerous details focusing on Ozzy's struggles with anxiety, isolation and addictions. The result is a balanced portrait, among the best made so far, largely detached from the story of Black Sabbath's journey.
Pre-orders for the volume are active from July 22nd (on the occasion of Ozzy Day, the anniversary of the English singer's death), while shipments will begin from December 3rd, the anniversary of the birth of the Prince of Darkness.
