Beyoncé celebrated the 4th of July by posting Morning Dew (Donk)a new song that officially kicks off a 60-day countdown to his birthday and the reissue of B'Dayhis second album released twenty years ago, on September 4, 2006.
Written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams, Morning Dew (Donk) it is the first unreleased track released by the global superstar in the last two years and is a direct homage to his faithful BeyHive.
The song, which will be included in the 20th anniversary edition of B'Dayarrives accompanied by a lyric video that reuses archival footage directed by longtime collaborator Cliff Watts. It was Watts who created Beyoncé's iconic cover for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in that period.
B'Day It was Beyoncé's second album to reach No. 1, selling 541,196 copies in its first week following its worldwide release on September 4, 2006, and its U.S. release on September 5, 2006. The No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 in the United States was replicated internationally, including in Japan, where the album took less than three days to reach the top of the international album chart.
