Bernard Sumner will be the only original member of New Order to take the stage at Primavera in Santiago de Chile, scheduled for November 26th to 28th. Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert, in fact, will not take part in the concert nor in the band's upcoming live commitments due to “personal health reasons”. The announcement came from New Order themselves through a message published on social media. “Circumstances make this impossible,” the group explained, without providing further details. It was not made clear whether the health problems concern Morris, Gilbert or both. The two musicians, 68 and 65 years old respectively, have been married since 1994.
The band specified that the absence of the two will not be limited to the Chilean date, but will also concern the tour “in the near future”.
Before the concert in Chile on November 14, New Order will be among the artists inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame during the ceremony to be held in Los Angeles.
Even the perspective of one reunion on that occasion between Peter Hook and his former New Order bandmates remains, for now, rather distant. On the occasion of the announcement of the band's induction — along with Joy Division — into the 2026 class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Hook clarified his position in an interview with Rolling Stone. When asked if he will go on stage with Bernard Sumner and the other members, Hook responded without hesitation: “No. No. Not after what they did to me and my family, no… I will not go on stage with them.” With a joke, Hook then called into question the brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, also among the artists awarded this year and protagonists of an unpredictable reunion: “Maybe Liam and Noel could be the intermediaries you are looking for. They could say: 'Okay, you two. Shake hands and go on stage to play 'Transmission', 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and 'Blue Monday'.”
The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14 in Los Angeles and will also feature Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
