You can now add Walton Goggins to what’s turned into a busy (and occasionally contentious) rollout for the Strokes’ forthcoming album Reality Awaits. The White Lotus and Fallout actor appears alongside Julian Casablancas and a collection of dancing clowns in the Johann Rashid-directed music video for the band’s single “Going Shopping.” As many astute Strokes fans have pointed out, the clip appears to be a nod to Paul Simon’s Chevy Chase-starring video for “You Can Call Me Al.” You can check it out below.
In a post on Instagram, Goggins wrote,“THE STROKES!!! Video for the first release off their new Album. GOING SHOPPING!! Never had the audacity to put something like this on my bucket list…I’ve been listening to REALITY AWAITS since March..It’s so gatdamn special y’all. Thank you fellas… Jules, Fab, Albert, Nikolai and Johann for this invitation. Days I will never forget! New Friends. Can’t wait to see you on the road gents! I’ll be singing my ass off in whatever seat I can get. Link to the full video in the bio.”
Reality Awaits is out July 24 on RCA.
