THE Rolling Stones release their new single “Jealous Lover“, accompanied by the music video directed by Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor (Radiohead / Jack White) and starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton. The single is the latest track revealed from their upcoming studio album *Foreign Tongues*out July 10th via Polydor/Universal Music.
“Jealous Lover” is accompanied by another song from “Foreign Tongues”, “Divine Intervention”, one of the two songs on the album that feature Cure frontman Robert Smith.
As anticipation for the album continues to grow, “Jealous Lover” offers another compelling example of the band’s uncanny ability to transition effortlessly from one musical style to another.
Following the upbeat pop-rock energy of previous single “In The Stars,” the new track embraces a soulful R&B groove, underpinned by a mesmerizing falsetto lead vocal from Mick Jagger.
Drawing on the band's long-standing connection to rhythm and blues, “Jealous Lover” combines infectious melodies, rich musicianship and keen lyrical observations. Jagger delivers a sharp warning to an overly nosy lover, bringing humor, character and vivid imagery to the song's narrative.
The song is animated by the expressive guitar work of Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, whose subtle intersection defines its melodic character. The rhythm section, consisting of Darryl Jones on bass and Steve Jordan on drums and percussion, offers a groove deep and confident, while longtime friend and collaborator Steve Winwood adds his signature textures of Rhodes piano and organ. Additional arrangements by producer Andrew Watt and keyboardist Matt Clifford further enrich the song's warm, soulful sound.
“Jealous Lover” highlights the chemistry and creativity that has continued to distinguish the Rolling Stones over six decades since the beginning of their career, fusing classical influences with a fresh and contemporary approach.
In addition to “Jealous Lover,” the first episode of the Rolling Stones podcast is released today, “Speaking In Tongues” across all major podcast platforms.
