Text and meaning of Partenopethe new single by Merk & Kremont feat. Serena Brancale And The Kolorsout June 5, 2026 via Atlantic Records/Warner Music Italy.
The song marks the return of the duo formed by Federico Mercuri And Giordano Cremona with a collaboration that brings together three realities that are very present in Italian music in recent years. On the one hand the dance and electronic dimension of Merk & Kremonton the other the funk-pop of The Kolors and the vocality of Serena Brancale.
At the center of the piece is the reference to Partenope, a figure linked to the myth of Naples who here becomes the symbol of an imaginary made of sea, summer nights, freedom and Mediterranean sounds. A theme that is also reflected in the production, built between funk bass, disco guitars and percussion with a southern flavour.
Merk & Kremont – Partenope: the meaning of the song
The meaning of Partenope revolves around an idea of summer experienced as a space for meeting, lightness and sharing. The title directly recalls Naples and its cultural tradition, but in the story of the song the reference broadens to represent a more universal imagery.
According to what the artists told, the song was born from the meeting between funk, soul and Mediterranean influences, with the aim of building a track designed for dancing but strongly linked to its roots.
“Partenope was born from our passion for the Neapolitan sound, between funk, soul and Mediterranean sounds. Having Serena Brancale & The Kolors at our side is a great satisfaction for us, given their enormous talent and energy”.
The musical component seems to have a central role in the identity of the piece. In fact, the production focuses on elements that recall Italian disco-funk and the great summer hits of the past, seeking a balance between club energy and references to the sound tradition of Southern Italy.
Also The Kolors they underlined the collective nature of the work carried out in the studio.
“Everything that came out in the creative phase in the studio made everyone agree instantly. Every phrasing, every drum hit, every note of guitar, bass, percussion etc… it was as if we were a big band! A great dive into the funk inspired by Partenope that we have always loved!”
For Serena BrancaleHowever, the connection with the sea and the South represents one of the most recognizable aspects of the project.
“I'm very enthusiastic about Partenope, a song that amuses me from the first listen and reminds me of my sea in Puglia and all the emotions it brings with it. I'm happy to have written this piece together with the boys. I find that Partenope is a song full of energy and desire for summer, capable of putting everyone in a good mood!”

Merk & Kremont, Serena Brancale And The Kolors they build around Partenope an imagery that combines funk, disco and Mediterranean suggestions. A song that seems to focus more on collective energy and the reference to the sea and summer than on a linear narrative, transforming the reference to the city of Naples into an open and shared symbol.
