For years the Oasis reunion seemed to belong more to dreams than to reality, between memes, arguments, poisonous interviews, statements denied the next day. Then Liam and Noel Gallagher returned together on stage for real and now that return will become an event documentary distributed in IMAX cinemas and on Disney+.
Was announced a film – still untitled – dedicated to the tour Oasis Live '25defined as «one of the most anticipated rock'n'roll comebacks of our times». The documentary will arrive in cinemas around the world from September 11th with limited distribution, before arriving in streaming on Disney+ later this year. Behind the project is Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinderswho created the film, while the direction is entrusted to Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, already authors of Meet Me in the Bathroom And Shut Up and Play the Hits.
According to what was announced, the documentary will closely follow the band's reunion with access to rehearsals, backstage and on stage, also including the first joint interviews of Liam and Noel Gallagher in over twenty-five years. The project will chronicle not only the sold out tour, but also the “emotional and cultural impact” that Oasis' return had on fans around the world.
«I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but also that of the fans whose lives have been touched by their music – declared Steven Knight -, in an era of resentment and division, music can still unite generations, cultures and countries». Other details on the title and theatrical programming will be announced in the coming months.
