Yves Tumor arrives in Italy for a single unmissable live date, organized by DNA Concerti and Via Audioscheduled Tuesday 27 August at the Sforza Castle in Milan.
Eclectic artist, musician and producer who is not afraid to challenge the limits of electronics, dance, plunderphonics and experimental rock, extraordinary glam and provocative performer, Yves Tumor will present live Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds)his latest album released on March 17, 2023 by Warp Records, accompanied by a world tour starting from the stage of the Coachella Festival.
Within a narrative arc that effortlessly blends rock, psychedelia and electronica in a constant reinvention of pop, Yves Tumor – aka Sean Lee Bowie – has always moved, altered and played with the boundaries of contemporary art and culture to define a deeply original, visceral and authentic sound that blends restraint and chaos with soulful claritydilutes reality by giving meaning to the abstract and allows dissonance to be heard and seen as harmony.
Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds) reaches new artistic heights thanks to a surprising and unprecedented confrontation with pop music. Without a doubt her most intimate and personal release, the album leads the listener through a conceptually multifaceted spiritual journey that tortuously intertwines darkness with light, pop with innovation, cacophony with calm and an ecclesiastical solemnity.
The album was preceded by four singles: “God Is a Circle”an intoxicating melange of compelling melodies and adventurous arrangements, “Echolalia”, “Heaven Sorrounds us Like a Hood” And “Parody”The videos of the first two are directed by the visionary Jordan Hemingway (already a collaborator of Yves Tumor for the video of “Secrecy Is Incredibly Important To The Both of Them”), a director capable of exploring an emotional and transgressive world, brilliantly spiced with references to 70s arthouse cinema.
The album was produced by Noah Goldstein (Frank Ocean, Rosalía, Drake, Rihanna, Bon Iver) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails), giving it a sonic signature that acts as a distillation and amplification of Yves' previous work. The record's visceral aesthetic is bolstered by invaluable contributions from long-time collaborators Chris Greatti (Yungblud, WILLOW), Yves Rothman (Girlpool, Amaarae) and Rhys Hastings.
The album follows the acclaimed EP The Asymptotic World of 2021, whose global recognition has seen the single “Jackie” Ranked #1 on Crack Magazine's Songs of the Year and Pitchfork's Top 25 Songs of the Year. Crushed Velvett appeared in Spotify's Best of Indie for 2021 and Vogue's Best Songs of the Year. The previous 2020 album Heaven To A Tortured Mindwhich also received critical acclaim, was included in numerous year-end lists including those of the New York Times, WSJ, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, FADER, NPR and others.
In 2022, Yves Tumor was the only artist featured on WILLOW's new album
After opening the concert of Florence + the Machine and went on tour as a supporter of the Nine Inch Nails In both the UK and the US, Yves Tumor has quickly become a hot ticket at the many top-tier festivals he headlines (from Pitchfork to Outside Lands), his stunning performances have sold out shows across North America, the UK and Europe and have received critical acclaim. Over the course of his impressive and ever-expanding career, he has been compared to Prince for his musical and cultural strength by the Washington Post, to Joy Division by Variety and was defined as “unmissable” by the New Yorker.
