From Piero Pelù to Irene Grandi, from Marlene Kuntz to Malika Ayane, from Colapesce and Dimartino to Andrea Appino, Motta, Subsonica, Pierpaolo Capovilla. There are many friends and colleagues who in recent hours have remembered Paolo Benvegnù, who passed away suddenly yesterday 31 December 2024.
“Have a safe journey among the stars of music, dear friend Paolone,” writes Pelù. “You are and will always be in my heart. Kind, profound, inspired, and with lots and lots to say. You left us so suddenly that it's really hard to believe… how much all of us friends will miss you… A big hug to your immense soul!”, we read in a post by Irene Grandi.
The thoughts of Marlene Kuntz: “Dear Paolo: you were one of the best. We have many memories of you, many beautiful moments shared: we also remember you through them, annihilated. And we bid you farewell for the last time, together with all those who are doing so in these minutes of common dismay. It's as if we were hugging each other…”. And that of Subsonica: “News that saddens us a lot. His musician, poet and singer-songwriter brother Paolo Benvegnù died today at the age of 59. Our thoughts go out to his family, his friends, the musicians who were lucky enough to play with him.”
And then Tosca (“Sweet Paolo, I'm speechless… have a safe trip my friend”), Malika Ayane (“It hurts”), Ermal Meta (“Your music was important for me and for many others, thank you for your gifts and your passion will be missed”), Andrea Appino, Motta, Fast Animals and Slow Kids (“kind soul”), The list representative (“Hi Paolo, thank you for your smiles”), Colapesce (“Walking without asking yourself because”, while listening Circles in the water), Dimartino (“Hello Paolo”, to the tune of The back) and Pierpaolo Capovilla: “Hi Paolo. We will miss you.”
“I played on The vertical sea by Paolo Benvegnù with Ermal Meta but we never met or met”, writes Paolo Fresu. “I thought it would happen sooner or later but he left on the last day of this year. “A bizarre way to leave this world but perhaps the right one. Except that hope can be placed in a better year than the one just ended. This is what I wish for all of you, even in the absence of those who, in this period of time, left without making any noise”.
This is instead the memory of Stefano Bollani and Valentina Cenni: “We are shocked by the sudden passing of our friend Paolo Benvegnù. Tonight's episode of Via dei Matti n°0 with the Groove& was recorded days ago and will be broadcast at 8.00pm but our thoughts at this moment are all with Paolo and his family”.
“Very sweet. Very humble. Cultured. Talented. Good. Witty. Gentleman. I've never heard anyone speak badly of you, I've never heard you speak badly of anyone. You will be greatly missed, Paolo,” shared Francesco Moneti, violinist of the Modena City Ramblers and Casa Del Vento.
La Crus' post: “Hi Paolo. Only 15 days ago we were on stage together in Rimini. There are no words.”
