If until yesterday the main peculiarities of the with Destruction was the geographical origin – the band was formed in 2010 in Jesenice, a city of Slovenia near the border with Austria and Italy – the direction undertaken by the trio focuses straight outside the deathcore of the beginning, mixing various musical influences in the name of the eclecticism and calculating the influence of the manga and anime culture in the characterization of the project.
It is obvious how “animetal” wants to push and exaggerate, building the deathcore relics of one's origins – bars bombastic, groove and lowered guitars are present on several occasions – and having fun in inserting electronics, Nu Metal influences and pop refrainers, pounded in the fixation for the Japanese animation that shapes the concept and aesthetics of the band.
Nothing totally original, having witnessed the excellent results of Rise of the Northstar, Brand of Sacrifice and, in a broad sense, Babymetal, but when the results are there and the enthusiasm is palpable we can only welcome the very modern and figured title-track, the aggressive “kanasy” with its distorted rap and the memorable refrain, or the futuristic refrain, “Automation”, which invokes the darko and their alien formula.
In some songs the trio also experiences moving away from the most familiar territories and trying to break the schemes: “Bitter Embrace” and “Cybergirl” play with versatility and flirt with electronics, while “Stay 4ever” offers a more melancholy and atmospheric side, approaching the formula of omnipresent Bring Me The Horizon, where Synth, Pop-punk influences intertwine with metalcore.
It is also impossible not to mention the general influence Nu Metal, of the Korn in the first place, which is traced almost everywhere, in the heavy and Groovy riffs, in the syncopated rhythms and in a more accessible approach than traditional metal.
Even just by reading these lines you will realize how the references are manifold and in almost all the unreachable cases, both as regards trendsetter such as BMTH and avant -garde such as darko or pazzi as asylum as Paledusk, but net of some cloying refrain we can define as “animetal” as a turning point gained in various preparation and decidedly successful production albums, with an excellent production and an excellent production. sparkling.
Severally prohibited to traditionalists, we are sure that this album will turn a lot in the headphones of those who appreciate the most modern metal.
