A date that knew of celebration since the eve, a return home in style to celebrate important anniversaries: Willie Peyote he turned on the stage of the Flowers Festival In Collegno Wednesday 25 June, giving way to his summer tour “Thanks but no thanks” and offering his city an unforgettable concert.
The evening was inaugurated by the talent of Anna CastigliaTorinese by adoption, who had the task of heating the public before Willie Peyote's arrival.
With his authenticity and his scratchy voice, Anna offered a performance that has captured the attention of those present, perfectly preparing atmosphere for the mood of the evening.
His songs, full of incisive texts and sounds that range between pop and songwriting, have shown why it is considered one of the most interesting emerging voices on the Italian music scene, capable of immediately creating a connection with the listener
The concert was not only a performance, but a real celebration. This year, in fact, the Tenth anniversary of “Sabauda education”the disc that marked the turning point in his career and the first chapter of a trilogy dedicated to Turin, continued with “Tôret syndrome” (2017) and “On the river bank” (2024). A significant milestone, especially since the Flowers Festival also celebrates its ten -year, creating a special and doubly significant connection. “I immediately liked the idea of starting from Turin,” said Willie, “because it is not only 'Savoy education' who turns ten years old but Flowers himself: I am happy to be able to celebrate them together”.
In addition to the ten -year of a symbol album, the concert also anticipated another important anniversary: i 40 years that Willie Peyote will turn in August. “A date that also wants to be a celebration,” confessed the artist, while admitting to strive to live these goals “without too much anxiety and without too much lightness”. This frank and authentic attitude is a distinctive trait of his art, which the Turinese public has always appreciated.
On stage, Willie Peyote has retraced his career, with a particular focus on Torinese trilogy. To enrich the evening, the presence of friends and collaborators who have accompanied him in these years: Subsonica, Lightning and Maurizio Carucci of the former Otago. “Education Sabauda” is “the most important album of my career for many reasons, not least his having allowed me to tell that period”, explained Willie, underlining how precisely that album represented a decisive turning point, “one of those that, once you take, you don't even know where you are”.
The concert showed the evolution of a writing which, as the artist described, is often “of belly”, the result of a profound expressive necessity. This style, which characterizes the trilogy, is opposed to more “reasoned” albums such as “Pornostalgia” of 2022.
