Video interview with Black Prince. He's a nice, young guy with very clear ideas Angel Bad guysyoung speaker of TeenSocialRadio had the opportunity to meet a few days ago in Milan.
BLACK PRINCE is a rapper from Catania originally from Gambia, right from the start he attracted the attention of the local rap scene and, subsequently, that of Southern Italy. One of his advantages is certainly his origins which allow him to enrich his artistic expression with the multiculturalism that belongs to him.
And it is about this, as well as music, new challenges and politics that he spoke to the microphones of All Music Italy.
BLACK PRINCE at a moment in his career he decided to interrupt his activity to put it on hold, a period that served him to refine his style, his writing and to resolve problems that affected the personal sphere of his life. In fact, upon his return the Catanian rapper said: «I fixed what I needed to fix, now I can dedicate myself to music».
The rapper of African origins has nowadays acquired greater artistic and personal awareness also due to his marriage and his three children. 2024 is the year that marked his return to music, first with Sicilian educationMay 17th was the turn of Casablanca and on September 6, 2024 one of the most important songs of his career was released: I slept on the street.
The Sicilian artist BLACK PRINCE tells his story in a single with a concept that is not only very autobiographical but also touching, which talks about an entire generation of those who found themselves emigrating from their homeland to another in search of better prospects and living conditions. However, arriving in a new country and a new city represents a beginning that is not at all easy, as it starts all over again.
The last song of BLACK PRINCE, I slept on the streetwas released on Friday 6 September 2024 and the verses that compose it lead on an emotionally strong journey. The song is accompanied by a peculiar video that takes inspiration from the well-known film by Matteo Garrone “I am Captain” (2023), nominated for the Awards Oscar and winner of several Donatello's David. In fact, from some scenes of the film the artist relives in front of his children the path that took him from his country of origin, Gambia, to Italy and to be precise to Sicily.
I slept on the street makes us understand how once again the new Sicilian rap scene is ready to take its place at a national level, the main artists who make it alive and competitive talk about essentially new contents that are only truly felt in a land like Sicily.
Think about the issue of immigration, the Sicilian people have been living in direct contact for several decades now – especially in some specific territories – with the often dramatic landings from the Mediterranean. Men, women, young people and children looking for a future, a better life, ready to leave and sacrifice everything.
And now we are waiting for the new single, always for Shot up records.
