Franz Ferdinand embrace the darkness of the night in the music video for their latest single, “Night Or Day.” Directed by Rianne White, the video was shot on a rainy day at AYR Studios, the location where the band recorded its new album, “The Human Fear,” out January 10.
“Life may never be easy, but damn, we'll make sure we live it to the fullest, night or day – commented the leader, Alex Kapranos – We have collaborated with the enormously talented Rianne White to capture the noir drama of the environment in where we recorded this piece and the rest of the album. It has a sensitivity and energy that literally exploded that space, offering a glimpse into the world in which we created our music. A storm shakes the room and… boom, the dark heart of Scotland beats.”

White added: “This song evokes the turbulent, transcendent immensity of emotions that live and breathe within four walls. A powerful fusion of sound and image, captured entirely on 16mm black and white film. These are the storms we dance in!”. The video for “Night or Day” follows the release of an equally cinematic video for the previous single, “Audacious.”
With each new preview, “The Human Fear” takes shape more and more. It is their first full-length album since the hits collection “Hits To The Head”, released in 2022.
“Making this record was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life, but it's called 'The Human Fear' – Kapranos explained in a statement – Fear reminds you that you are alive. I believe that in some way we are all addicted to the adrenaline rush it can give us. How we respond to it shows how human we are. So, here is a series of songs that seek the thrill of being human through fears. Even if, at first listen, you may not notice it.”
