A time leap. Followed by a dizzying dive into an electric, kaleidoscopic world. They are the sensations it returns The fallthe new single which, to be honest, is not new but unreleased yes, by Lory Muratti and Andy from Bluvertigo, as it catapults us into a universe suspended in time and space. A visual project, born two decades ago and which still pulsates with unchanged power today, is now enriched by a new stage with the “twenty years long” video clip after it had been put into hibernation for so long. Not due to consumption, but because it is as if it was waiting for the right moment to rise again.
To kick off the visionary revival The hour of distancesthe book published by the duo last September (Miraggi Edizioni), which brought to the surface those songs and images that seemed to have evaporated. It wasn't like that. It was enough for them to look inside themselves again: «It is there, in our depths – say the two artists – that the strengths and the desire to continue against the current are nestled. Doing it by extending a hand to those around us, listening and sharing the journey, is easier and has an even deeper meaning.” In fact, the novel was a sort of gateway to a “counter-reality” crowded with post-punk, glamor and rock'n'roll characters, rebellious and colorful souls who move like dancing shadows among the fluorescent works created by the same Andy. In perfect Muratti & Bluvertigo style, The hour of distances it is also a 45 rpm vinyl (Riff Records/the house of love), for those who live on music that is still partly tactile and with vintage distortions, and can «imagine a present where dreams and color resist against an increasingly corrupt and black and white”.
To celebrate the return, Muratti and Andy chose a symbolic place of the Milanese night like the Plastic, on the occasion of the one-night Popstarz Memorabilia. Here, in a space-time that wraps around itself, old and new images mix, creating an alternative reality, and dialogue with the reverberations of images of themselves in the past, in a fascinating game of mirrors. In the video clip they are accompanied by the performer Xena Zupanic and Prince Maurice, figures as enigmatic as they are powerful. Presences that, like ghosts with a nostalgic and dazzling air, also populate the pages of the book. The result? A feast for the eyes and the mind. To be used with caution, however, the risk is of never being able to return to reality. It is no coincidence that the novel already warned us: «The voices arrive more and more clearly. I am no longer alone and I continue towards new encounters and new hopes that keep my head and hands busy with which I enjoy drawing in the air. Now that I remember I know how to do it, I have no intention of stopping. There are nights when things fall and this is definitely one of them.”
