Doechii is bringing soccer (the real football!) to the Super Bowl. Rolling Stone can exclusively unveil the Grammy-nominated rap star’s Big Game ad for Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass, set to air on Super Bowl Sunday.
“MLS is game on. Doechii? On. Stars? On,” she declares in the video, which splices clips of the rapper with in-game plays from Lionel Messi and 15-year-old protégé Cavan Sullivan. “30,000 friends? On. Rivalries on.”
“MLS: This is our soccer,” Doechii says at the end of the commercial. “Game on.”
The 2025 ad campaign celebrates the 30th season of Major League Soccer, which will welcome its 30th team, San Diego FC, to its ranks this year. Along with airing Super Bowl Sunday, the ad will also play throughout the season on MLS Season Pass and in stadiums.
“To me, ‘Game on’ means being ready to play even when you’re not ready to play. It means going after what you want even when you’re afraid,” Doechii tells Rolling Stone of the ad. “It means not accepting ‘no’ and trailblazing your own path.”
The campaign slot is a full-circle moment for the Alligator Bites Never Heal musician, who played soccer growing up. “I was a very active, hyper kid,” she told Ryan Seacrest back in 2023. The ad also continues the league’s efforts in connecting music with the sport: Last year, Messi revealed his warm-up songs in an Apple Music playlist and Christian Nodál lent his voice for a Leagues Cup anthem.
Asked to manifest a musical “All-Star” team and game, Doechii selects Tina Knowles as the ref for the game and Top Dawg as the coach. “My All-Star team? Me, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lauryn Hill, Tyler, the Creator coming to take over,” the rap star says.
Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass will broadcast all MLS and Leagues Cup games, including the All-Star Game, and Playoffs, without blackouts, and featuring in-depth game analysis. The 2025 edition marks the third year of a 10-year partnership between the league and Apple TV to transmit the league’s games.
“MLS Season Pass delivers fans exactly what they want, connecting them with the game they love across all of their devices, with no blackouts,” says Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services. “Heading into our third year with MLS, we’re excited to continue elevating the fan experience and can’t wait for the season to begin.”
This year, Apple TV introduces Sunday Night Soccer, which will broadcast a featured game of the week with enhanced production and dedicated programming. The TV slot will allow for all Applt TV+ subscribers, not just those with MLS Season Pass, to watch the weekly matchups in both English and Spanish.
MLS Season Pass is available with or without an Apple TV+ subscription, but you’ll still need the Apple TV app, which is available on smart TVs like Samsung, LG, and Sony, as well as streaming devices like Roku, Fire TV, and Google TV, and Apple’s streaming device.
