That music and poetry are linked deeply, show it – in addition to the origin of the word song – musical realities such as that of Lucio Corsi. A 26 -year -old boy who with his songs shows how in 2020, between tradition and trap, there is still a place for an intimate and imaginary author music. Lucio Corsi's texts are like the testament of the poetic one of theindefinite that from literature moves directly to the lyrics of the songs of some of our songwriters.
If the previous album, Musical bestiarypossessed the intent, expressed since the title, to give a name, or rather a precise soundto some of the animals that live the woods and countryside, What will we do when you grow up? It is characterized by being more introspective and reflective. Next to the uncontaminated world of wild nature, this time they also find representation scenarios of large cities such as Milanand trains that enter Inside the lounges wide open (White arrow). But not only “local” realities: we also find distant worlds such as China (Bore), to be reached by digging underground, with paths and mechanisms that at times recall the overseas movements of the Divine comedy:
“I want to see if when I will be there / I have checked everything even the gravity / and how I had done a jump / I will start falling with the legs at the top / we are seeing if the sky has a roof / a ceiling a floor / and a large chandelier hanging / sometimes it remains turned on sometimes off.“
Alongside fantastic trips, even important messages: so the song that gives the name to the album is made to the spokesperson for a re -evaluation of the beginning, of the large companies interrupted, thrown in the wind. In the belief that changing the plans does not represent a failure, but a new beginning. So, even in Trieste The brake wind becomes a push, “Useful to keep the clouds on the road, for those who are still and do not find the courage, the wind pushes both the boats and the men, if they cannot move “.
Author music in the narrowest sense of the term, which links the Italian songwriter traditional to Anglo -Saxon rock sounds, such as the intro surprised that opens White arrow. The glamorous look that distinguishes it is the external part of a sensitive soul, which returns to the transparent and light stories of the songs. Vive and infinite worlds: if I had to tell the music of Lucio Corsi to those who cannot listen to it I would definitely use a picture.
While waiting for the stand-by of these long days it ends, and that the tour, which opened with a sold out a Pisa And Romeresume, we asked him some questions, about the new album and his interests.
Your songs seem to come out of a fairytale book, they have something magical and ancient. Your writing is delicate and light, without being superficial. Some of your songs may be safely inserted in a collection of poems. What weight does literature have in your life?
107 kg. In this period I am reading Books by Ambrogio Fogar, Open fire By Bianciardi and I was passionate about Emily Dickinson's poems.
“Sometimes today / you may seem to you at night / if you run to the meeting you the strength is back” What we will do when big? It is linked to the idea of starting again, refusing the conception for which success and professional satisfaction reside only in achieving a goal. There is a re -evaluation of the beginning, of the desire to start again and get involved. Do you see yourself in this nonconformist attitude?
I don't know, I try to do what makes me feel good. The thing that interests me is to be satisfied with the songs, without descending unnecessary and absurd compromises in the field of artistic expression.
Almost two years ago I left a small town to move to a big city. During the journey I felt so inept from what I was going to meet; Instead, over time, things have changed. In this period, when I happen to go home, I feel like the protagonist of White arrow. Your words reminded me of a piece of the monologue by Stefano Accorsi in RadioFreccia: “I think the desire to escape from a country with twenty thousand inhabitants means that you want to run away from yourself, and I think that you don't run away from you even if you are Eddie Merckx “. What do you think? Have you brought something you wanted to leave behind in Milan?
More than escaping from yourself, we should meet and speak a little, clarifying the self.
Your previous album was concentrated on nature and in particular animals. In What will we do when you grow up? There is still attention to natural elements, like the sea. How do you live this link with nature in a big city like Milan? With its high buildings; It is a city that is often compared almost to a concrete monster. It is certainly different from Tuscany …
My house is the sea with a river no, I can't change it… think change the sea with a city, impossible. In Milan I try to stay there as little as possible, when I can I go back to Maremma.
The artwork of your works are truly special. They were made by your mom, who paints. I see the drawings fully in line with your artistic profile. In particular, when I listen to your songs and I see those paintings I think of De Chirico's metaphysics or magical realism – an artistic current of the first half of the twentieth century. What relationship do you have with art?
Lately I have been passionate about Antonio Ligabue and De Chirico. Then the patience comics, Moebius.
Listening to your albums I thought several times at the theater. In particular, I am referring to Unparalleled or Lizard. I've never been to your live, but I want to remedy it. In your performances, is there also an attention to recitative performance?
There are parts recited in the concerts yes, I like to interval the songs with spoken introductions. I love Gaber, I find that form of entertainment fascinating.
The album returns particular attention to the geographical details of the stories. There is your land, harsh and wild, the sea, Trieste, Milan, but also China. Nonetheless they seem to me almost suspended stories. Your songs may have been written today, but also thirty years ago. Perhaps their magic is also a bit. In this they reminded me of the scenarios of the films of the Ghibli studio. I wouldn't find it hard to imagine There transparent girl in one of these films. Do you know these works? Have you ever thought about your song in a movie?
I never thought of one of my songs for a movie. However, it would be a beautiful experience. I am very interested in the soundtracks, especially those where each character is linked to a musical theme, Pinocchioor how Pierino and the wolf where the relationship between narration and music is even greater.
