Not sure what to get your friends for Christmas this year? Take it from Barbie and pick up a gift from Verizon.
The iconic doll and tastemaker has teamed up with Verizon to promote the company's range of both physical and digital gifts for the entire family. Malibu Barbie, Brooklyn Barbie and Ken appear in a new commercial that sees them surprising their friends with a way to stay connected all season long (spoiler: it's Verizon's Whole-Home WiFi).
The gift of connectivity (and super fast WiFi) instantly upgrades Barbie's Dream House to her Stream Housewith the characters able to film videos, record their podcasts and stream content better than ever before. The ad campaign — which will run across TV and social media — is soundtracked by another famous blond, with Sabrina Carpenter's “Please Please Please” as the theme song.
Verizon says the campaign “captures all the ways Verizon Home Internet powers every corner of Barbie's home and every room – including gaming, connected home devices, and with exclusive savings through Verizon's myPlan,” which lets shoppers customize unlimited phone and internet plans based on what they actually need.
As part of the campaign, a life-sized replica of the Barbie StreamHouse will pop up in New York, with guests able to visit the sure-to-be-viral space from December 12 – 15 in SoHo.
In addition to home internet, the new partnership also showcases some of Verizon's other top gift ideas, including The Gizmo Watch 3 – Adventure, a kids smartwatch that includes brain-building games, a step counter and easy ways for parents and children to stay in touch.
Verizon is also promoting its “Verizon Family” service as a must-have online gift. For just $14.99/month the app lets families monitor everything from location sharing (and arrival alerts) to driving insights and call and text history. The app also gives you the ability to receive SOS alerts, call for roadside assistance and more. See full details here.
The new Barbie x Verizon partnership comes on the heels of a big year of collaborations for Barbie and Mattel, which have teamed up to launch everything from Barbie tumblers to toys in recent month.
